Setting the Xvid 1st and 2nd pass settings in GordianKnot

To ensure you will get optimal quality after conversion, we will be using 2 passes - this significantly improves quality, and allows to predict the size of the file. In order to do so, you have to configure GordianKnot once for 1st and 2nd pass settings.

  • In GordianKnot, select the Options tab

  • Select the [First Pass] button under XviD default codec settings

fig 1

A screen will pop up, where you can select a default profile.

Ensure the encoding type is set to "Twopass -1st pass"

click the [more...] button at the "profile @ level:" line.

Double check the settings with fig 2.
